Governor's Message

By Jim Fusco

The journey continues and I am looking forward to a great year! I am now entering my third full week of visits.

So far, I have been to 17 clubs: Acton-Boxborough, Athol-Orange, Auburn, Billerica, Hudson, Leominster, Littleton, Maynard, Montachusett Area, Newton, Sturbridge, Tyngsboro-Dunstable, Uxbridge, Waltham, Wellesley, Wachusett Area, and Worcester. Only 34 to go!

This week I will be making eight visits: Charles River, Chelmsford, Dedham, Fitchburg East, Milford, Neponset Valley, Southbridge, and Weston & Wayland.

The receptions I have received have been awesome. It has been great to see so many of my friend again and to meet so many more. My complete visitation scheduled is posted on the Home page of the District website, in the left column under "Upcoming Events."

I have found a common theme from every club that I have visited. To no surprise, it is membership. I have continued to promote my message that District 7910 is here to help the clubs and I believe a great way to do that is to have the clubs participate on District Committees. Our next D7910 Membership Committee meeting will be held on August 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in Boxborough, and I encourage every club to have their Membership Committee chair attend.

As far as membership goes, I have some good news: Districtwide since July 1, we have added seven new members and lost two, for a net gain of five. Congratulations to Acton-Boxborough, Auburn, Newton, and Westborough, and Weston & Wayland.

In closing, please check out Worcester Rotarian Rich Prager's excellent photos of my visit last week to that club, including this one of me posing with Worcester President Bob Magnan. And, watch Rich's video of my address to that club meeting.

We will have a great year!
