A great time was had by all Tuesday night, the 27th, at the Scandinavian Living Center, where Rotarians, their families, friends, and former community Paul Harris winners gathered for a sumptuous pot luck supper. We celebrated our 100th Anniversary, gave out this year's Paul Harris awards, and installed our President for 2023-24, Liz Tavares and the Board of Directors.
Third generation, and 40-year Newton Rotary member Tom Keery gave us an entertaining review of the club's past century, and we honored Executive Director of the JM Barry Boys & Girls Club of Newton, and Rotary member, David Sellers Jr. with the Community Service Paul Harris Award, our highest honor. Dave's dedication to serving the needs of the kids and families of Newton is widely respected throughout the community, in both the public and private sectors, and we are proud to have him as a member.

After that, it was time for some final words from outgoing President Andy Willinger, and the official passing of the gavel to incoming President Liz Tavares, who was sworn in by Past President Sue Peghiny. Liz then took the podium to address the group and share her goals for the coming year before bringing down the gavel to close the meeting. Now it was time to cut the fabulous cake and pass the delicious Cabot's ice cream that was brought by former owner Joe Prestejohn (also a past Paul Harris awardee).

We not only demonstrated our ability to live up to Rotary's high ideal of "Service Above Self", but we clearly had fun doing it. It will be this combination that bodes well for our club's future success in the next year and the years that follow. Another hundred? Just keep recruiting those youngsters.
