Service Above Self was on full display when Natick Rotarian Peter Golden and his wife, Tina, opened their home to friends, neighbors and fellow Rotarians for an evening of fellowship, education and generosity in support of Common Man for Ukraine (CMFU). The gathering brought the community together to learn firsthand about the humanitarian needs facing Ukrainian families—and ultimately raised more than $5,000 to support CMFU’s ongoing relief efforts.
Natick Rotarian Peter and his wife Tina recently opened their home recently opened his home to friends, neighbors and fellow Rotarians for an inspiring fundraiser supporting Common Man for Ukraine (CMFU), a humanitarian project of the Rotary Club of Plymouth, New Hampshire.
Two CMFU volunteers who had recently returned from Ukraine shared firsthand accounts of their work delivering food and essential supplies to civilians affected by the war and they also described respite camps in Poland sponsored by Common Man for hundreds of widows and children.
Through stories and a PowerPoint presentation, they offered guests a moving look at the challenges facing Ukrainian families and the dangers encountered by those providing assistance.
The evening combined fellowship, education and service. Guests enjoyed hot dogs while engaging in spirited conversations and learning more about CMFU's ongoing humanitarian efforts.
Peter's creative “Garagery” — part garage, part art gallery — also featured boxed and finished jigsaw puzzles available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting CMFU.
The generosity of those attending was remarkable: more than $5,000 was raised through checks, cash and Venmo donations to support CMFU's continued humanitarian work.
A great example of Service Above Self, The Golden's event brought people together to learn, connect and make a tangible difference for civilians affected by the war in Ukraine.
