Robert “Bob” Johnson, a dedicated member of the Rotary Club of Worcester and a true Rotarian who devoted 46 years of his life to his club and the Worcester community, passed away on January 16, 2022. Bob's fellow Worcester Rotarians always appreciated his presence and wonderful outlook on life. He is someone our club misses terribly.

Following a visiting hour and a funeral mass in January, Bob was buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Shrewsbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bob's name to his church, Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in West Boylston, a place he so loved - and for which he was a long-time member, Eucharistic minister, and parish council member. To read his full obituary, click here.

As Worcester Rotarians, Bob Johnson (on right) and Past President Satya Mitra (on left) helped raise money for the Salvation Army in 2018.

Bob was the traffic engineer for the City of Worcester for 28 years, retiring in 1994. He was a former member of the city's Off Street Parking Board and was for 20 years chairman of the Worcester Regional Transit Authority. He was also a registered professional engineer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and a former member of the New England Institute of Transportation Engineers, which named him Engineer of the Year in 1978.

Bob was also a member of the First Friday Club, served on the advisory boards of the Salvation Army and its adult rehabilitation center, and served on the boards of the Rotary Club of Worcester, the YMCA of Central Massachusetts, and the Greendale Retired Men's Club.
