The Rotary Club of Westborough has awarded scholarships to five local seniors. The scholarship program recognizes students who are contributing to the Rotary vision of a world where people unite and take action, creating lasting change in our communities and across the globe.

The five students selected plan on attending schools that range from New York University to the University of Maryland. The Westborough club says the students selected demonstrated strong academic achievement, leadership in school and community, and spoke passionately about service as a key component of their post-high school experience.

The recipients (alphabetically by last name) are as follows:

  • Rhea Balasubramanian (shown bottom left): New York University, Global Public Health
  • Madison Bromm (bottom right):: Miami University of Ohio, Kinesiology/Elementary Education
  • Carolyn McDermott (top left): Fairfield University, Nursing
  • Ryan Doan Nguyen (top center): Harvard University, Government/Pre-Law
  • Miara Sasdi (top right): University of Maryland, Criminology/Criminal Justice
"We congratulate all of these fine young people and wish them health and happiness in all of their future endeavors," the club states.
